War of the Worlds: Week 8 Power Rankings

Swimming/running/puzzles in the “Brain Freeze” daily, and a dirty stinking cousin kisser-this episode had it all. The breaking news was Bear has/had a girlfriend (“cousin”) back home, and Georgia wasn’t pleased, or did she even care? More hooks up developed, a pair of teammates fight, and we get to see a classic “Push and Pole” elimination.

These rankings will reflect on the last episode, based on performance, drama caused, alliance movement, and of course opinion. These rankings will also be a collection of three different sets of power rankings from the staff and averaged out to give the most unbiased rankings on the web.

8. Hunter & Georgia

Highest Rank – 6        Lowest Rank – 8         Last Week – 8 (0)

Starting off, Georgia had a run in with her relationship with Bear, and for the first half she was done with him. Then this pair got into an argument and a riff appears to be separating them from within. Hunter appears to want to make his partner happy, he’s just going about it the wrong way. Fast forward and Bears mental hold on Georgia worked and she is back with him. During the daily this pair was the 2nd to get all their puzzle pieces back which showed how physical they can be. In the puzzle aspect, it was back to what is known about Hunter, puzzles are not his strongest game. While being nominated by Nany/Turbo for elimination, it was a burn vote from the beginning. This pair might benefit from just performing in the daily, because if trust goes out the window, they will be mentally gone on the killing floor.

7. Kam & Ashley

Highest Rank – 6  Lowest Rank – 8         Last Week – 5 (-2)

A relatively quiet week for the say whats on her mind Kam and Ashley. Holding the relic this week, it was clear that pushing for first wasn’t going to be a need. Even knowing this, this pairs performance during the daily was poor. Finishing last by almost a full leg. Endurance will get this pair in the long run. If either of them makes the final, it appears to be for a last place finish, unless they can start conditioning themselves till then. Without any good daily performance finishes, the killing floor will keep their name around.

6. Kyle & Mattie

Highest Rank – 5        Lowest Rank – 7         Last Week – 9 (+3)

This week we saw how good this pair can be in the daily challenges when they aren’t blindfolded. While they didn’t make it into the Tribunal, they were the first to get all 8 of their puzzle pieces. This shows that endurance won’t be an issue for the pair, just figuring out puzzles. It’s obvious that if Paulie or Cara get into the Tribunal, Kyle/Mattie will be nominated. Kyle is clearly over Cara and the love triangle angle, but still pokes fun with quotes like “Don’t put me in, remember all the good times!”

5. Da’Vonne & Bear

Highest Rank – 4  Lowest Rank – 7         Last Week – 4 (-1)

First the positives, this pair is TV gold, alone or together. This team also won an elimination. Bear lost and gained Georgia all in one episode. Now for the negative, or at least outliers. During the daily, this pair was 8/9 to get their puzzle pieces and were drained after two runs each. Bear and Da’Vonne beat Jenna and Gus, who were looked at as one of the weakest teams. Gus dominated Bear for this whole elimination and had he not had his hands slip in round 1, this pair would’ve been gone potentially. Holding the relic is the best thing that came out of this week as they will slide into the top 7 guaranteed.

4. Paulie & Ninja

Highest Rank – 3        Lowest Rank – 4         Last Week – 2 (-2)

A once dominating team has fallen from grace over the past couple of weeks. While they aren’t finishing towards the bottom, Ninja appears to be under-performing based on the early part of the season as they finished 7/9 to bring all 8 puzzle pieces back in the daily. One thing that saves this pair, is nobody wants to see them in an elimination. They are the most balanced pair when it comes to speed, strength and a good mental game.

3. Cara & Theo

Highest Rank – 2  Lowest Rank – 5         Last Week – 7 (+3)

This was a good week performance wise as they have stood out in a daily that didn’t favor Cara (due to past experiences with swimming and puzzles). Theo supporting Bear having a gf back home wasn’t a good look, and Cara still worrying about Kyle is getting old if a power move isn’t made. It will be interesting to see if they can move forward and continue to do well in daily challenges. This pair looks poised to make a final.

2. Nany & Turbo

Highest Rank – 1        Lowest Rank – 3         Last Week – 3 (+1)

A good week for this pair with only 1 glaring downfall to their game. First, a dominating performance, one in which we saw Turbo finally look human. Nany is playing this game great and appears more poised than ever to get her first championship. Nany and Hunter’s relationship is glowing, which can push both going forward. Losing Jenna, an obvious ally for Nany, hurts in the numbers game. Turbo had the quote of the episode when talking about what Georgia should do concerning Bear saying, “You must cut his d**k off!”

1. Wes & Dee

Highest Rank – 1        Lowest Rank – 4         Last Week – 1 (0)

Another week and another 1st place. During the daily challenge the cast approached a swimming/running/puzzle challenge. Dee not knowing how to swim more than 7 days earlier, this pair looked to be done before the horn. That’s when Dee’s adrenaline kicked in and she kicked ass. No matter who you root for on these shows, watching a human overcome fear and in a dominating fashion, is always pleasing to the eye. Although, this pair was 6/9 in bringing back their puzzle pieces it took them little time to solve. Almost every time this pair has went after a legitimate target from the Tribunal (excluding their burn vote of Kam/Ashley) that pair has went in. Even last week Wes/Dee voted in Amanda/Josh. It appears this pair has a strong hold on the game and doesn’t look to relinquish this control anytime soon. .

The Results

9. Jenna & Gus

Finished in 9th Place

The clock has finally struck midnight on this Cinderella team. After an ok performance in the daily, this pair finally gets called down to the killing floor. This pair lost but not due to being out muscled, but by being outsmarted by Da’Vonne and Bear. First Gus messed up, while trying to pull the pole out, and his hands slipped, giving Bear a win. With the case for Jenna and Da’Vonne, Jenna couldn’t get under Da’Vonne to be able to gain leverage. This season will be a forgettable one for Gus, although he appears to have more fire under him than the edit gave. As for Jenna, it’s back to the drawing board, to set up a new game-play, as riding it out with the veterans is a common move of hers that hasn’t yet worked. This will be a season that ended on a what if. What if Gus’ hands didn’t slip and he got to go to round 5 vs Bear. Maybe this pair would still be standing tall. It will be one of the eliminations what ifs of this season.
